Good waiting
There are very few kinds of waiting that I like. I don’t like slow-moving queues (fast-moving queues, of course, are pleasing). Or having to wait more than six minutes for a bus or two minutes for a tube or ten seconds for holiday pictures to download. Or indefinitely for the ideal job/man. I am not unusual in this.
Good waiting, however, does exist. Hopeful waiting in full expectation that the wonderful thing you want is definitely, unequivocally, without a shadow of a doubt, on the way soon. A longed for person, gift, dessert, holiday, kiss.
Advent is good waiting. What was promised, what was longed for, what was needed, has already happened.
I love the build up to Christmas as much as (if not more than) the day itself: carol services, food, fairy lights, decorations – tasteful and otherwise, ‘Christmas socialising’*, food, Christmas markets, food. I love the anticipation of it. So today, Tuesday 1st December 2015 – the advent of Advent, seemed a good day to start this blog.
Christmas is on the way. Enjoy the wait.
*Like normal socialising but with more razzle dazzle.
